Walt Vernon Appointed to HCI Board of Directors

Mazzetti CEO Walt Vernon was appointed to the Health Care Institute (HCI)

Board of Directors, Tuesday, April 21. HCI is an IFMA Alliance Partner whose mission is to holistically enhance the skills of facility management professionals within the health care industry and to further the profession overall.

“I am honored to have been asked to serve the healthcare industry in this way. I have long believed that the healthcare systems from all over the world can learn from each other, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to help to make that happen.” –

Vernon has 30+ years experience in the research, planning and design of healthcare facilities, domestically and more recently, abroad.

Currently, Vernon serves on the NFPA 99 Electrical Systems Technical Committee; he is the vice chair for the ASHRAE 189.3 committee; and represents ASHE on the ASHRAE 188 committee.

Vernon is the Board Chair of the Research and Development Committee for the Facilities Guideline Institute. He also sits on UL1069 for Nurse Call Systems and the ANSI E60 committee Setting Standards for Sustainability, and is leading the team developing the American Hospital Association’s Sustainability Roadmap and Energy to Care Programs.
