The Behring Pavilion is home to our UCSF-John Muir Health Jean and Ken Hofmann Cancer Center. Our state-of-the-art facility brings cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination into a single location—in a space that is calm, inviting and focused on healing.

Patients benefit from the combined expertise of top cancer specialists from John Muir Health and UCSF Health, including access to the latest treatment advances—right here, close to home in Contra Costa County.

The Behring Pavilion also serves patients with complex, chronic and non-cancer conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Crohn’s disease.

Mazzetti provided MEP Engineering, IT Consulting, Medical Equipment Planning, and Lighting Design for the 1555,000sf OSHPD-3 outpatient facility with a cancer treatment focus. The LEED Gold Certified project includes clinics, diagnostic, and treatment services including imaging, lab, breast health imaging and genetic counseling, oncology/ infusion, digestive health, pediatrics, pulmonary function, wound/ hyperbaric, post-trauma, pre-admin testing, and support spaces.

The project is a prime example of the successful integration of wireless lighting control technology. After thorough cost analysis and collaboration with the owner, contractors, and engineers, it was decided to implement wireless lighting controls across the entire project. Significant upfront cost savings and long-term energy efficiency benefits drove this decision. Additionally, the wireless control system provides the added advantage of seamlessly supporting IoT technologies like RTLS, Asset Tracking, Wayfinding, Demand Side Management, and more. The controls manufacturer offered a trial run of the Atrius system on the upper level, allowing JMH to evaluate its potential for future applications.
