Mazzetti is delighted to announce Jon Utech has joined our team as Senior Director of Sustainability Strategy & Finance.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO YOUR SPECIFIC LINE OF WORK? WHAT ABOUT THIS ROLE EXCITES YOU?
I work in sustainability because it aligns my skills and experience with an area that is important to the world. Moving the needle in sustainability in healthcare means integrating environmental health into how we run our systems, which will positively impact human health, and that’s about as cool as you can do in my mind!
TELL US ABOUT A MEMORABLE PROJECT.
At Cleveland Clinic, we took system energy usage down by 20% over a ten-year period. This involved setting a bold and audacious goal, and required the hospital to work together to make it happen. We looked at the whole lifecycle of energy, and changed how we designed buildings, did renovations, ran facilities, and engaged the employees (we called them caregivers) at Cleveland Clinic. It’s a testament to the power of bold goals and coordinated action with a triple-bottom-line impact.
WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT YOUR LINE OF WORK?
The ability to bend the climate curve is literally what has gotten me up and excited about work for the last 15 years.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO MAZZETTI?
Mazzetti has a reputation for doing some of the most innovative and important engineering and sustainability work, which excites me.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE FUTURE OF MAZZETTI?
Helping to build better buildings, campuses, and energy systems, and transforming the future, will fuel the growth of Mazzetti for many years to come!
WHAT IS YOUR UNIQUE (OR GREATEST) VALUE YOU BRING TO CLIENTS? TO THE INDUSTRY? (I.E. WHY SHOULD CLIENTS WANT YOU ON THEIR PROJECTS?)
I see change from the client’s perspective and design work to meet and exceed their needs by ideating and implementing impactful solutions.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK – WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS OR HOBBIES?
I love to travel and have visited 47 of the 50 US states (I need to visit Arkansas, Nebraska, and Alaska). I have also climbed 33 of the 46 Adirondack 46ers. I enjoy trivia and once won a trivia contest for a free Super Bowl trip. I have taken up jogging recently and love to talk about training.
Please join us in welcoming Jon Utech to the Mazzetti family. We are excited to see the positive impact he will bring to our projects and clients.
