Mazzetti, an engineering design and consulting firm known for its forward-looking solutions, celebrated the opening last week of Kaiser Permanente’s new state-of-the-art, 275,000-square-foot medical office in San Leandro. The new facility blends thoughtful design and technology, easily accessible by car and public transportation, just off Interstate 880.
“We are pleased to be a part of delivering the medical office building on time and budget,” said John Griffiths, a principal electrical engineer at Mazzetti. “I enjoyed collaborating with the entire project team on this facility, which is designed to meet aggressive energy targets.”
The opening of the four-story facility, located at 2500 Merced St., marks an important expansion of primary and specialty care for Kaiser Permanente in Southern Alameda County and the East Bay, as the healthcare organization leads in transforming care for its members and the community.
With the opening of the San Leandro Medical Office Building, Kaiser Permanente will be making services more convenient for members and the community. The medical office is designed for easy way-finding and access for members, with doctors and services, including laboratory and pharmacy, under one roof. The new facility has space for 116 primary-care and specialty-care providers.
Services available at the medical office include Adult Medicine, Healthy Living Center, Laboratory Services, Neurology, Orthopedics/Podiatry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy and Radiology/Imaging.
The Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center will be complete when the new hospital and emergency department open on June 3. The six-story, 437,000-square-foot hospital will include 216 licensed beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department with 40 emergency treatment bays, 10 operating rooms, a labor and delivery department equipped for high-risk deliveries, and a neonatal intensive care unit. All rooms are private, come with room service, free Wi-Fi and pull-out guest beds, so family can stay overnight if they wish.
