For more than 15 years, Bryen has been acutely focused on Healthcare and Health Sciences — strategic planning and design with an emphasis on medical equipment, procurement, and transition/move planning services. Bryen is highly experienced leading multi-disciplinary teams and identifying new business opportunities. Bryen joins Mazzetti as a Principal, under our *Mazzetti+GBA Technology Division, based in Nashville, TN.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO YOUR SPECIFIC LINE OF WORK? WHAT ABOUT THIS ROLE EXCITES YOU?
I came into this line of work really by coincidence. I was working in healthcare construction out of Cincinnati and always had an interest in coming to Nashville. Before I knew it, I was transferring into a division that did medical equipment planning. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but as I’ve always enjoyed the complexity of the healthcare sector, I ended up finding it very interesting — here I am, 15 years later.
TELL US ABOUT A MEMORABLE PROJECT.
One of my most memorable projects was my first big hospital project in Middle Tennessee, which is now St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. I spent over two years there coordinating over 20,000 pieces of equipment for a 7-story, 550,000sf facility with all modalities and services. It was truly an eye opener and learning experience. While it had so many challenges from Just-In-Time deliveries to coordinating the MRIs in the facility, it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had on a project team. “They” say experience is the greatest of teachers; this one was truly a great teacher.
WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT YOUR LINE OF WORK?
There are a couple things that motivate me, including the inherent complexity that yields new daily challenges. I live for working through these challenges, knowing that at the end of the day, it is going to help people. Although it’s such a small part of the entire equation, it really does take a village, and this is our contribution to helping our communities.
The people are equally motivating. We get to meet and work with so many different personalities. I’ve always enjoyed the opportunity to work with so many (different) people, all contributing to create spaces for delivering optimal care.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO MAZZETTI?
The opportunity to grow and build my passion brought me here. Mazzetti is a great company that has a vision to grow and expand – the opportunity to contribute to this growth and continue to do meaningful work is attractive to me.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE FUTURE OF MAZZETTI?
I’m most excited about the unknown, the new challenges, and the opportunity in and of itself.
WHAT IS YOUR UNIQUE (OR GREATEST) VALUE YOU BRING TO CLIENTS? TO THE INDUSTRY? (I.E. WHY SHOULD CLIENTS WANT YOU ON THEIR PROJECTS?)
I think what matters most is not what we think, but what our clients and colleagues think. Value lies in the eye of the beholder. Truly listening and understanding what our clients and colleagues need and want is what makes things not only professional, but personal. That personal connection develops deep, lasting relationships. Ultimately, we all want to work with people we like and trust.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK- WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS OR HOBBIES?
Perhaps not surprising, I have many passions and hobbies. (I don’t let the grass grow under my feet!) Among these, I’m a big bourbon enthusiast; I love to tinker on cars and trucks; I love running and playing volleyball (and really love being outdoors). And of course, spending time with the family is always a plus.
