Environmental Leadership: Walking, Not Just Talking

I am delighted to be sitting in the awards ceremony for the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program. Mazzetti is among the companies receiving recognition as a Gold Leader – for the fifth year in a row.

I believe that Mazzetti is at the highest level of achievement as a green business in every office in a city that recognizes such achievement. And where we have offices in cities that don’t recognize these accomplishments, we still operate in the same kinds of ways.

Mazzetti has been buying carbon offsets to achieve carbon neutrality for years. Our projects have achieved various levels of LEED certification–24 LEED Platinum and Gold projects and 20+ LEED Silver and Certified projects.  We have won Practice GreenHealth’s Champion for Change awards for ten consecutive years. 

Maybe most importantly, we are trying hard to find ways to make it easy and economically attractive for our clients to do the same.

I think it can be easy to tell someone else what they should be doing. It’s a lot harder to do it yourself. I believe strongly in walking the talk. It takes a lot of time and effort to ensure that we are doing the right thing, but, sitting here today, in this audience, as the only engineering firm winning this award, it’s worth it.
