A is for Advocacy:

Mazzetti is committed to being a safe place that promotes the well-being and advancement of our employees as well as diverse and under-represented populations in STEM. What does this look like in action?

• Pronoun and gender identity training aimed to educate and support our people. Our meetings often involve sharing our team’s pronouns verbally, via ZOOM and within our resumes to ensure pronouns are respected.
• A diversity, equity and inclusion employee resource group that explores ways to connect to, advocate for and support LGBTQ+ communities through candid conversations and exposure to perspectives, gender bias trainings, LGBTQ+ trivia and historical resources.
• Access to robust mental health resources and positive ways to manage stress including meditation programs and guided yoga.

B is for Beyond:

We view allyship as going BEYOND a rainbow logo one month out of the year. We aim to educate, advocate for, and provide a safe space for all employees.

Mazzetti has made an implicit promise to employees to maintain equal health access to all, regardless of geographic location. We support the health and wellbeing of employees, point blank.

C is for Community:

Mazzetti is committed to advocating for a diverse and inclusive environment within the A/E/C community and externally. We acknowledge the connection between mental health and the anxieties LGBTQ+ communities encounter daily. We are doing our part to donate to the Trevor Project, a foundation that provides crucial suicide prevention tools like the Trevor Lifeline–the only 24/7 suicide prevention helpline explicitly aimed at LGBTQ+ youth. The Trevor Project also offers expert-led suicide prevention and mental health crisis intervention training sessions for teachers, school nurses, counselors and others who can make a difference in a young person’s life. The Trevor Project’s 2022 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health found that 45% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, including more than half of transgender and nonbinary youth. As a company that focuses on giving back to society, our mission is aligned with the Trevor Project to curb these rates and foster a more inclusive, accepting future.

D is for Dive In!

Whether it’s learning about LGBTQ+ history, reading a book with a new perspective, volunteering at your local ally center, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights in a rally, or donating to a cause like the Trevor Project—the most important word is ACTION! If you need tips on where to start, we have compiled a list below of ways to educate/act in support of your local community.

• Human Rights Campaign (hrc.org) strives to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ people and realize a world that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
• PFLAG Founded in 1973, PFLAG is the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families.
• GLAAD tackles tough issues to shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. GLAAD protects all that has been accomplished and envisions a world with 100% LGBTQ acceptance.
• American Civil Liberties Union (aclu.org) realizes the promise of the United States Constitution for all and expand the reach of its guarantees. For more than one hundred years, ACLU lawyers have been at the center of one history-making court case after another, participating in more Supreme Court cases than any other private organization.
• Lambda Legal Since 1973, Lambda Legal’s lawyers have won precedent-setting civil rights cases on everything from marriage equality to expressions of gender identity to health care discrimination.
• Point Foundation | LGBTQ College Scholarships empowers promising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential. Point does this through scholarship funding, mentorship, leadership development, and community service training, and is the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for LGBTQ students of merit.
• Family Equality – Advancing Equality for LGBTQ Families exists to create a world where everyone can experience the unconditional love, safety, and belonging of family. They are outspoken changemakers, creating an equitable LGBTQ+ family narrative, through advocacy, community, and education.
• National Center for Transgender Equality (transequality.org) is a team of hard-working staff members supported by a nationwide community of transgender people, allies, and advocates with an extensive record of winning life-saving change for transgender people.
• SAGE – Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ+ Elders (sageusa.org) leads in addressing issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning and other self-identifying members of the community (LGBTQ+) aging. In partnership with its constituents and allies, SAGE works to achieve a high quality of life for LGBTQ+ older people, supports and advocates for their rights, fosters a greater understanding of aging in all communities, and promotes positive images of LGBTQ+ life in later years.
• GLSEN advocates for schools to cultivate a safe and supportive environment for all of their students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
• Astraea Lesbian Foundation For Justice (astraeafoundation.org) is the only philanthropic organization working exclusively to advance LGBTQI human rights around the globe.
• True Colors United implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.
• Outright International aims to eradicate the persecution, inequality and violence lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) people face around the world.
• GLAD ‘s bold litigation has achieved scores of precedent-setting victories on behalf of LGBTQ people and those living with HIV.
• It Gets Better The It Gets Better Project exists to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe. With a footprint spanning four continents and six major languages, the It Gets Better Project is the world’s largest storytelling effort to empower LGBTQ+ young people where they live, learn, and socialize.
• GSA Network is a next-generation LGBTQ racial and gender justice organization that empowers and trains queer, trans, and allied youth leaders to advocate, organize, and mobilize an intersectional movement for safer schools and healthier communities.
• Out & Equal | Workplace Advocates (outandequal.org) is the premier organization working exclusively on LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
• Center for Black Equity is a multinational LGBTQ+ network dedicated to improving health and wellness opportunities, economic empowerment, and equal rights while promoting individual and collective work, responsibility, and self-determination.
• Trans Lifeline is a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources they need to survive and thrive.
• Marsha P. Johnson Institute was established to protect and defend the human rights of BLACK transgender people. MPJI’s work involves advocating, organizing, offering fellowship opportunities, creating coalitions, establishing a trans-centered membership platform, and executing digital and on-the-ground campaigns.
• SRLP (Sylvia Rivera Law Project) works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence.
• LGBTQ Freedom Fund (lgbtqfund.org) pays bail to secure the safety and liberty of individuals in jail and immigration detention. They also work to address the disproportionately high rate and harm of jailing of LGBTQ individuals.
• Lambda Literary nurtures and advocates for LGBTQ writers, elevating the impact of their words to create community, preserve legacies, and affirm the value of stories and For over 30 years, Lambda Literary has championed LGBTQ books and authors.
• The Okra Project is focused on supporting Black Trans people and alleviating the barriers that our community faces. We envision a safe, abundant, and equitable life for Black Trans people across the United States, and our service pillars reflect this vision.
• Pride Foundation fuels transformational movements to advance equity and justice for LGBTQ+ people in all communities across the Northwest.
• The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (gaycenter.org) New York City’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center empowers people to lead healthy, successful lives. The Center celebrates our diversity and advocates for justice and opportunity.
• The Attic Youth Center – A safe space where it’s OK2BU! The Attic Youth Center’s mission is to create opportunities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community and to promote the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society
• The Audre Lorde Project (alp.org) is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans and Gender Non Conforming People of Color center for community organizing, focusing on the New York City area.
• Hetrick-Martin Institute (hmi.org) believes all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.
• LGBT Youth Shelter and Services | Ali Forney Center Committed to saving the lives of LGBTQ+ young people, their mission is to protect them from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to live independently.
• Cascade AIDS Project (capnw.org) is the oldest and largest community-based provider of HIV services, housing, education and advocacy in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
• PROMO, Missouri’s Statewide LGBTQ Advocacy Organization (promoonline.org) confronts systemic inequities to liberate the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination and oppression.
• Lost N Found Youth (lnfy.org) is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that exists to end homelessness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) and all sexual minority youth.
